Georgia’s OAS (Online Assessment System)

February 22nd, 2006 by Kim in Management Techniques · Technology Integration Sessions · No Comments

More than a question database, this site will continue to expand and change so you can use it for your everyday formal and informal assessment. Not only will students be familiar with the content you are teaching, but they will increase experience in using online software which is growing everyday.

It started as Georgia’s CRCT test prep with a database of questions in each of the content areas grades K-8. Immediately after the first year online, the GADOE realize that teachers were using it directly before CRCT testing which increase test anxiety for students. Today teachers begin using the online assessment in September encouraging a more relax way to present test material to students.

Testing is not going away, especially now that we are data-driven more than ever. So let’s simply make it part of our everyday. Just as in Dr. Seuss’ Horray for Diffendoofer Day! we can show students that they do know all these things.

Setting Your Home Page

February 3rd, 2006 by Kim in Management Techniques · No Comments

A recent question has come up. How do I set a different Home Page in my browser? Excellent question.

This is a great way to start the process of “Managing Your Life”. As a teacher, you must get it done quickly. You can set your Home Page to a favorite web site in your curriculum or set it to a bloglines account that can pull together all the articles you want to read/skim over on a daily basis.

The steps are simple…

1. Go to your favorite site.

2. In Safari, go to Safari>Preferences.

3. Under Home Page click Use Current Page.

4. In Firefox, go to Firefox>Preferences.

5. Under Home Page click Use Current Page (you can also have two or more tabs open and save all of them as your Home Page).
